"Itís hard for mortals to comprehend the death, but
||Volaris - Destiny|
for immortals it is impossible to understand it."
Time and death are always moving towards the new beginning. In a large scale can be said that the time alone moves towards the end of eternity. Volaris is the first advocate of mortals. He is the foreman of death. This however doesnít definitely mean that Volaris would be the death itself. In an individual level death is only a frightening word, which describes ending of time and beginning of something unknown.
There are two dominating ways of thinking about Volaris. Both of them describe the essence of Volaris, or the Destiny, in different ways. The elves and some southern human people have comprehension about cruel and bloodthirsty "Grim reaper." Civilized people of north have an image of a dark warrior. By that northern way of thinking the warrior is dressed to a beggar to be able to observe mortals. All ways of thinking have similar images like "The pipe of Volaris" and the blood red "Eye of destiny." In any case Volaris appears as a man sized and dark figure. Volaris is a primary avatar of destiny, which controls that divinity as an entirety. The destiny can be conceived to be both a multipersonal divinity and one personification. In both ways of thinking Volaris be in the habit of breaking the borders of time and space. This means that he can be in many places at the same time. Volaris is said to be smoking a long-legged black pipe of death, which smell resembles that of a juniper berry. Because of those mental images, juniper is though to be a tree of destiny. Humans believe also that junipers and their smoke banish undead.
Volaris is exceptional god among other gods. He donít have own people or realm anymore like all other elder gods have. While speaking about gods, a word "independent" or "wild card" could be used about Volaris. That expression has a lot of irony, because presence of Volaris is far from wild. His presence breathes cold insensibility and meaning of everything. Meaning is a key word to Volaris. By the Book of destiny it is important for Volaris that everything has a meaning and all futile must be "removed." The word "remove" means end and of everything and death for mortals, but for Volaris that word means transporting souls to another place. Cycle of souls accomplishes Volarisí comprehension about multiversal expediency and moving the end of eternity farther. Volaris is the one by whose name people turn undead. All undead, like ghosts, vampires, liches and even molthars fear and avoid Volaris. Those grotesque images have succeeded in avoiding bony hand of destiny and have to always avoid Volaris and his chosen ones.
When elder gods awoke, Volaris awoke in the last revelation with QueíAnya, Theala and Achal. He couldnít foresee his meaning and future then. At that time Destiny was still sleeping inside Volaris. Probably Volaris has never had own realm like all other elder gods have. Chronicles and known myths donít officially tell anything about Volarisí own realm or his people. Only albinos of wolf-people are known to be delirious about some world with handprint of Volaris while sleeping. Wolf-people snap oneís finger to talking and thoughts of despised albinos living among them. Because visions of albinos are only clues about ancient history of Volaris, those are attached here.

"When gods were creating their realms, they created the strength of ground and firmament at first. Destiny, a god named Volaris worked in a different way. First he created people into an empty room and not until then he created ground and firmament through his people. So the people, whose name has already been forgotten, were created first. They were personified words of Volaris at those times. They built their world into the emptiness with guidance of their god."
* * *
When Grand-creation was prepared, the people of Volaris were creating common connection, the world, which nowadays is known as Meln. Every god however had its own responsibility and right to be part in the creation of the world. Carrying out the will of Volaris didnít need his pure presence. His words marked out the roads of Destiny. When the world was ready, but only short of souls, the words of Volaris passed with gods in cosmos. New-born spiritual beings called them as The grand ones. Those they helped born and living. When the world became flesh, the dying ones from mosquito to dragon shouted the names of the Ancient.
* * *
"When darkness fell down on gods, the Grandest withdrew into their thoughts in their realms. In agony people of Volaris withdrew into their lost cosmos. The blackness changed in its power. A figure awaked, at proud night. Found a words of spell, words of Sagoin. Essence of knowledge hurried desecrating gods with intrigue. Silent knife dictated words of sin. Whispered unreasonableness to Destiny, thoughts drove for Time. Generated the seeds of war. Distorted relations of brothers. The Time was going to conquer people and power of Volaris. The Ancients complicated in the eternity of Destiny. The madness shouted in holy head. The war blamed souls of grand ones. Hand rose to hand-wrestling. Powers bended untiringly. Measureless measuring of powers broke the world of ancients."
* * *
"The ancients were destroyed in secret wars. As black birds they raised up to the night sky. Birds are shouting the name of Destiny. The black wolf awakened inside the Volaris. The Destiny has come. Meaning of everything is about to shape. The one that acts in dreams begins examining its deeds while awake: Dead gods disappear, but deeds of remaining ones can never disappear. Death and agony have been found. Dead souls have no bed made for them. The souls fly as black figures to the borders of emptiness. They gather to form a black beast. Fear, anguish and despair feed the masses of lost spirits. In the darkest night the worst emotions of cosmos are swarming. They take a shape of beast and leave avenging. The Destiny is becoming stronger. The Destiny finds golden strings. This way everything was meant to be."

Fragments of dreams and visions described above are only unofficial nightmares and hallucinations of different participants and are attempted to be presented in chronological order here.
Time is a rhythm. The rhythm has two phases: Activity and passivity. In other words only sound and silence, nothing else. Achali is the sound and Volaris presents the silence. Achali and Volaris are often conceived to be brothers. In mental images of intuals Achali is "the brother white." Good, safe, knowing and comforting god. When it is said that time heals wounds, people rarely think Volaris. Volaris to same extend is "the dark side" of time. In minds of humans Volaris is oppressor, evil, fearsome and unknown. In the very end "brothers" could be equally atrocious or charitable.
"The silence would lose its meaning if it makes noise."
- Ancient saying -
By the Book of destiny the silence Volaris presents is formed of the "family of death." Volaris is the master of the family of death. Concept "the family of death" covers gods: Volaris, Theala and Toga. A relation between Volaris and Theala is like a bond between siblings. It is very peculiar and complicated. Even though Volaris is the master of the family of death and also the master of silence, it still can be roughly said that Theala is the silence. Part of Volaris is remarkable here, because he is the executor. The silence would lose its meaning if it makes noise. This means that the passive side of rhythm needs an executor, because basically only prerequisite of existence is the influencing. Most remarkable influence of silence is personified to be Toga. Therefore people think Toga to be son of Volaris and Theala. Time, erosion and death combine in Toga. Those are very restless combination.
As it is clear, Achali and ThoDemus have much to do with the family of death. Deeds and meaning of those five gods are big part in continuity of cosmos. Their influence is mainly acting behind the scenes. Little same way like Qunaidus affects behind life and change, the family of death affects behind death and change. If dying and decaying would end, the cosmos would be choked with life and existence.
Volaris plans course and continuity of the world by the knowledge Achali knows and finds out. The destiny marks life paths to mortals and creates new possibilities by former chooses. Symbolically said Volaris and Achali donít have cards in the great game of gods, but they trade with cards of other gods. Achali is trying to minimize coincidence via probability and Volaris seeks all possibilities so that everything would have meaning. Those possibilities that donít have a meaning in the "hand" of one god, Volaris trades to another god.
Why other gods tolerate that kind of "intrusion?" probably because they are gods and they have own reasons and rules. Probably it some way benefits all participants, because Volaris after all plays in the view of entirety.
Counterforce - Achali
Like it was prepared in previous chapter, Achali is the counterforce of Volaris. Letís use that lame card-game allegory about acting of gods again and think gods playing around a round table where every god is pulling their intentions to their own direction. Achali always examines cards of gods at the opposite side of Volaris.
Volarisí own realm has disappeared or has never existed.
Priests and temples
Principally all priests of Volaris are males. And most of all priests are humans. They work in societies as monks in monasteries and beggars in streets. Monks of Volaris educate for life. By their mentality they will learn much better by observing and discussing about experiences of life in the world, than reading all kind of books. Many of them however have learned to read and write. While wandering around the world the monks make their livelihood by begging, all kinds of works or even making miracles. Miracles are curing diseases, banishing death spirits and forecasting for example.
Also gold elves and actually wolf-people have priests of Volaris living among them. They too live ascetic life in their own ways. Those people donít build monasteries, but otherwise priests live without earthly property. Gold elven priests are respected among their own people. They get all food, drink, clothes and roof upon their head without asking. To same extend priest guides, cures and also teaches members of his clan. Gold elven priest can usually also read and write, so people turn on them in those matters.
In northern Meln among wolf-people "priests" are not in as respected position. There things are completely opposite. Wolf-people priests are albinos and they are treated like filth. Albinos are scapegoats and social blots and an example which serves as warning to other members of society. Right after birth albinos are taken to a cage and when growing up to an infant they are familiarized to manacles. Albinos are treated badly. They are nearly never spoken to and if spoken it always happens harshly, blaming or abusing. All albinos arenít necessarily even learned speaking well. Their speech is arduous and frightened. They see dreadful and strange dreams both while sleeping and awake. In case of disaster, accident or some other harmful situation all agony and bad feelings are piled up upon albinos. That could be one reason to mental anomaly of albinos.
Bases of priests of Volaris are temples or actually monasteries, like they themselves call them. Some monasteries are regularly inhabited and some are unoccupied wilderness-monasteries, where monks spend their nights or times between their journeys. In inhabited monasteries monks cultivate land, make handiworks, copy writings and help laymen as fits to situation. Some reciprocal service or monetary payment is always expected for services. Amount of payment depends completely on customers own wealth. If the customer itself is a beggar, he could pay his food and accommodation with some moderate job. Wilderness-monasteries could be abandoned for long times. Gardens of those are not taken care for in any way, but they have many eatable plants. Those nutritious root vegetables, salads and spices flourish with eatable weeds. Rare thief or robber dares to enter a wilderness-monastery with evil deeds in mind. Beliefs about the curse of The eye of destiny are strong among all intuals. By an old legend very young beggar-monk alone banished 100 robbers from some wilderness-temple. Of those 100 robbers only one lived longer than a week after the happening. That legend supports comprehension that even a lesser acolyte could have strength of high-priest while in temple of his own god.
Some power also keeps many beasts out of temples of most gods. In temples of Volaris that power is helped by a flying wolf-like mammal, belríshara, or in other words a whisper of fate. Belríshara is rarely met in monasteries close to human settlements, but in wilderness-monasteries they stay nearly without an exception. As long as wilderness-monasteries have been built for Volaris, belrísharas have nested close to those buildings and in ornament cavities of walls.
Cult ceremonies of Volaris usually consist of much omen reading and growing of spiritual self. Common cult ceremonies of local congregation are practiced depending on situation. In large human societies people could even gather once in a week for a service. Intual is free to enter town or wilderness monastery whenever he wishes to go searching guidance of destiny and omens of future.
Miracles made by monks of Volaris are pretty strong, if it is meant to be. In some cases monk just have to coldly point out that patientís plaque is not meant to be cured for the time being. This way the monk tries to find guidance of the destiny and meaning of the disease and its message. In hose cases the monk can do anything else but encourage the patient request it to turn on priestesses of Opanta.
Special comprehensions of people
In different cultures the avatar of Volaris is conceived in different ways. Appearance and nature of Volaris have only two main mental images. First way of thinking is from the elves. Even though they are sensible and calm people, they too have fears, dreads and nightmares brought by long-life. Gold elves are the only elves who donít think about Volaris like all other elves.
The grim reaper
The elvesí way of thinking describes Volaris to be embodiment of evilness and destructor of everything. That point of view describes Volaris to be a skeleton wearing dark, ragged and death smelling robe. His presence is half ghostly. Lower part of the body is ethereal and formed of gauzelike time torn shreds of the black robe. Upper body is covered by a black and hooded robe. Bony faces are visible under the hood and other eye-socket gapes dark, emotionless and empty. In the other eye-socket gleams brightly but fatefully the heart of Volarisí evilness: The eye of destiny. It resembles blood red ruby. Volaris can take the eye off his head and set it on a place he wants. Even though Volaris wouldnít be present, he would be aware of everything happening around the eye. It is believed that everything getting close to the eye begins slowly first aging and gradually falling into decay accelerates until thereís only dust and stone left in the area. The stone is the only protection where the power of The eye of Destiny can not reach. Fleshless face of Volaris eternally grimace malicious grin. In his mouth between partly split teeth he has black long-legged pipe. Bad smelling and poisonous smog spreads from the pipe and kills or destroys everything around. Fleshless hands peek from the loose and hanging sleeves of his robe. In his hands he carries a shiny black living scythe. Name of the scythe is "Phaathroten" and it has two-dimensional blade, which cuts any matter or antimatter. By the comprehension of the elves Volaris can be in thousand places simultaneously. When His Darkness is in very bloodthirsty mood, he begins torturing one living being. At first Volaris hints about his coming. After that he shows up to his victim in one place and every time the victim flees he appears in front of it and cuts of its path. Finally that dark merriment ends up on that all figures of Volaris have surrounded the victim and they tear the victim to pieces. Intuals thinking this way believe that Volaris as a god has only one motive and meaning: to rob everything that is important for intuals.
Gold elves have a little different point of view about "The grim reaper." For them the Destiny is a great teacher, who has predetermined the future. By their legends gold elves rose to ground from coastal waters in ancient times and the first being they saw was the Destiny. That god sat on stone smoking the juniper smelling pipe. First gold elves asked their meaning in this world. What should they do and why have they got in to this world? The destiny smiled its eternal bony smile and glanced to a caterpillar crawling on the stone. He took the caterpillar on his palm and showed it for them. First gold elves saw how the caterpillar crawled on Destinyís hand. The closer bony fingertips it got, the slower its moving got. Skin of the caterpillar had begun hardening shell-like. Finally it wasnít able to move anymore, but stayed laying only a thought away from Destinyís fingertip. One gold elf asked did the caterpillar die? The Destiny only smiled its grotesque, but mild smile and puffed a juniper smelling cloud of smoke from his mouth. In a little while the shell of caterpillar cracked open and a butterfly was revealed from under it. The butterfly looked the Destiny for a long time and confused. From the glance of Destiny the butterfly found its own meaning. Then it pitifully looked at the gold elves and rose on its wings and flied to the blueness of new sky. Then the gold elves understood that this life is only a pupa before the real goal. They feel pity for longer living beings.
Comprehension about Volaris in figure of beggar is common among humans living Northern-Meln. This comprehension either is any loving father-figure, but either does it describe Volaris to be ambassador of evil. Civilization in north experience Volaris with emotions of fear and respect. By their comprehension Volaris observes intuals in a figure of futile beggar nobody pays attention to. The beggar is wearing a decrepit black robe and in the other hand he has a beggarís staff and plaque-bell on the other had. Hood of the robe is pulled deeply over the head so that only skinny and pale cheeks, pointed chin and nose and blood-red blind-manís scarf can be seen. Blind-manís scarf is wrapped to cover his eyes. Volaris has numerous amounts of servants, who are deceased priests and beggar-monks of Volaris. Commonly taken all those are called the chosen ones. Volaris and chosen ones are called with one common name, Destiny. Also chosen ones have hided to crowds in clothing of beggars. Like Volaris, also chosen ones can decide their own visibility. In any case they are not completely invisible, but only a completely camouflaged in their blandness.
The Destiny is observing people in towns, villages, streets, alleys, shops, homes, crofts and castles. Since birth the life paths of intual are marked and choices are given. By those choices Volaris and his followers determine when it is the right time for soul to move to afterlife. This kind of moments the Destiny gives a last choice to its target. He lets only the mortal in question to notice himself and asks for alms. Depending on how the mortal reacts to the unfortunate, The Destiny could even postpone the death little farther. In that case the intual doesnít notice how death visited caressing its head. If the Destiny determines that mortalís time is running short, he undresses his beggars robe and lets the mortal see him. Under the beggars robe the Destiny is dark, but gallant sight. He is wearing a black plate-mail, which have red ornaments. The beggarís staff has changed to a silver scythe. Destinyís face is pale, but handsome and cold-blooded. His left eye is blood-red and right eye has same color as the chosen one had in its life. The Destiny has dead straight and long hair. Style of the hair completely depends on the chosen one. Some keep their hair hanging freely and some keep their hair on ponytail or pigtail. If it is Volaris itself in question, his snow-white hair hangs freely and always covers his right eye. Volaris is also only embodiment of Destiny, who mostly has the long-legged black pipe on his lips. The Destiny tells mortal that it is time to leave all earthly. Some mortals take that information with relief and some accept it even if it was a surprise. There are also those whose soul burst to tears and mourn for wasted possibilities. There are also those whose soul panics and tries to escape. In that case the iron will of Destiny wraps around the soul and steel hard voice of the "the grim reaper" could stop even the time itself. When mortal soul is ready to leave one way or another, The destiny summons fire-wheeled black and covered wagons from the sky. Four pitch-black winged horses with burning eyes, silver horn on forehead and golden sparkles in their hooves are pulling the wagons. Their snorting rumbles like a thunder in desert. When the wagons have stopped, the Destiny leads the soul in and sends the wagons towards the Halls of death to be measured by the gods.
These are the intuitive extremities about Volaris. Like in case of other gods, either these are the one and only right ways to think. All people have own comprehensive ways to worship their gods and differences about creating conception of the world.
The wolf-people known in northern Meln is a barbaric and uncivilized race living in mountains and highlands. They believe to be chosen people of the Destiny. In their opinion that belief justifies them to live by their bestial instincts and by the "justice of the strongest." By some information wolf-people of the north originate from some high cultural civilization that has bloomed in south. In that old civilization Volaris was described to be large six legged black wolf. Northern wolf-people believe Volaris has mated with white female wolves, which brought forth ancestors of wolf-people. Those who bowed Volaris in birth stood walking with two legs. Those who bowed their mother remained as normal gray wolves. Great Volaris-wolf requested wolf-people listening their own inner desires and give themselves up to their instincts, because everything to be happened had already been decided in the beginning of times. The black wolf doesnít accept priesthood or inequality. Every now and then however white albino wolves are born among them. They are not needed to be treated well, but are not allowed to be killed either. Physically weak albino wolves born to be trial and reminder for the family, who is about to forget old commitments. Speeches and deeds are unexpected and their observation always brings destruction for entire society.
Holy symbol and Holy scriptures
In human cultures holy symbol of Volaris is a rough figure describing plaque-bell and open parchment. Among gold elves the symbol is scythe.
The Book of destiny is a philosophical book about meaning of everything and meaning of death dedicated to Volaris. The book considers destiny as an all-round power and imprecise but concrete figure. Volaris is not known to have said or showed anything about his goals, meanings or purposes to anybody. Throughout the times wise philosophers and many great thinkers have studied and thought footprints of Destiny, death and meaning of everything. Thoughts of those nameless great men have been gathered to on book, which carries a name The book of destiny. Thoughts of the book donít have any actual racial approach. Thoughts presented in the book are ancient. It may be said that most of them origin from mutual conversations of the dragons. Original Book of destiny is supposed to be written in the old civilization of wolf-people.
