Qunaidus - Empress of mysticism, concealed knowledge and magic
Qunaidus is the essence of all magic in the world. Qunaidus has different influence in different worlds. She is the power behind the scenes. She is the thought behind the words. She is the music in cacophony of voices. She is the night-sky behind the stars. She canít be seen, nor touched, but her affections can be felt everywhere. There are many things that are thought to be deeds of others, even though those are born of her.

General description

It is impossible to say what matters about Qunaidus are true and what are only illusions of intuals and lack of more accurate information. It is also futile to speculate why she acts in a way she is acting and donít reveal truth about herself and her acts. She never explains her acts. She only does what is necessary. Those things are probably the biggest reason for the mystic essence of Qunaidus.

In the lack of truth human mind creates an illusion. If human knows nothing about the truth, it canít create any kind of image of it. If human knows even a small piece of truth, its mind automatically creates an entirety of it and that way misunderstandings and illusions born. Among humans Qunaidus is shrouded to illusions, because she reveals only small pieces of truth about herself.

Qunaidus has never cared that there is many different mental images about her. It is insignificant for her how people imagine her. Main point is that everyone is thinking and imagining with own brains. Qunaidus thinks external character very indifferent and therefore never shows up as a concrete figure even in dreams of humans. It is needless to begin listing examples about the forms she had appeared in the dreams of humans. Her appearance is different for every intual. It is also illusion for every human thinking by masses. Apart from that, it probably is also against principles of Qunaidus to impose own personal comprehension to other individuals. In fact the thought that Qunaidus is a woman could also be an illusion.


She is one of the first born elder gods. In the beginning of times when gods were creating the world, Qunaidus sang. Her singing created beauty. It was actually neither living nor dead noise, but something different that joined on the cosmos, which already existed and what was coming. Her music accelerated motion of creation and was the key to unobstructed creation. Where Achali, Volaris, Garneird, AníGaia, Sagoin and Theala woke up the younger gods and created peoples, Qunaidus actually neither woke up nobody nor created own realm. She only sang, she sang for the honor of the Great unknown and existence. Because of the intensity of the emotion of Qunaidus, her singing began reacting alone. The song rumbled and wiggled, until it began dividing. It divided into two: for emotion and common sense. Her song inadvertently woke up Mergin, the god of madness, love and arts and LoiíIatha, the goddess of dragons, intelligence and logicality.

Counterforce - Sagoin

Why the counterforce of Qunaidus is Sagoin? Why the opposite of knowledge is knowledge? Both deities, Qunaidus and Sagoin, are embodiments of knowledge. Or are they?

"Secret - Knowledge - Secret" -cycle

Concealed and individual knowledge represents old and slowly advancing development, where knowledge is revealed only for individuals. As a sacrifice of that knowledge the individual perhaps have had to give its youth and life while examining the desired secret. Those kinds of lifeís works are everything for individuals. That kind of sacrifices raise revealed secrets even more valuable than the life of the examiner. It depends on examiner does he move the secret for his heir or will he take the secret to grave with him and hope to be memorized legend among legends.

This is the Qunaidusí way to control the knowledge. Unfortunately it often leads to disappearance of the knowledge. The disappearance of knowledge, or in other words changing to a secret, is part of the great cycle of knowledge. When former knowledge and present secret is searched, it is possible or even very likely to find a new secret. New secret could be more important than the secret searched at first. This is very difficult and slow course of knowledge, but it feeds itself. Qunaidus maintains secrets especially because of the knowledge. She is the center of knowledge, though not the knowledge itself. Human factors like selfishness and fear of oblivion, or in other words fear of death, are abused in a Qunaidusí way to control the knowledge.

The opposite of concealed and individual knowledge is extremely uncontrolled thirst for knowledge and power, which sacrifices secrets to gain more knowledge and power. This isnít actually a way to control knowledge, but a way to rule with it. Extreme secret is knowledge that is known only by one creature. By the "Secret - knowledge - power" -cycle extreme secrets are needless as such. The power of secret "explodes" only when it is endangered to be revealed or when the secret is divided. Then it would become a lesser secret, or in other words, "knowledge."

This Sagoinís way of using the knowledge is very limited alone, because it shatters the secrets. It itself doesnít create them, but its power bases on breaking the secrets. When the secret is shared with someone else, its power and possibilities have decreased with over half. Especially on this bases the mathematical laws of magic. When one intual knows an extreme secret, he has the power to tell it to anyone he wishes to or conceal it for anyone he wishes. When the two intuals know the same secret, they also had to live by conditions of each other. They must take care not to anger each other. Holders of the same secret must compete all the time with each other. The competition is about who is the first to use the "exploding" power of the secret and gain the most benefit. Sagoinís world and his power politics base on this kind of "quiz" and power-seeking.

Base of both deities is knowledge, but that isnít their definitive essence. The utmost essence of Qunaidus is the concealment of knowledge and Sagoinís utmost essence is revealing the knowledge. Qunaidus creates more secrets by revealing half-truths and Sagoin acquires more power by revealing secrets. Antithesis is how the knowledge is used.

Realm - Dinia, "The palace of wishes"

Qunaidus doesnít actually have own realm. Humans have a belief that Qunaidus used wishes and dreams of Mergin and built the "Palace of wishes" to the blue moon. Windows of the palace were made of knowledge of LoiíIatha and one can see everywhere through those windows. If the viewer is able to interpret what he sees, he could see to past present and future through those windows. It is even possible to see emotions and most secret thoughts of intuals. It may be said that Qunaidus itself sees everywhere through those windows.

Humans conceive Qunaidus to be sitting in front of her windows and always singing to her own joy. Her songs spread everywhere. In some places the song can be heard better than in some other places. Elsewhere many hear the echo of her songs and in some other place only the most sharp-eared can hear her melody. It is believed that magic disappears on a day when Qunaidus stops singing. Part of the belief is also that silver-mirrors reflect best way her music. Some people believe also that gems are words of her songs.

Unofficial beliefs and stories tell also about hidden Mythoran. It is reputed to have been Qunaidusí own realm before the born of common world of gods. There are many more descriptions and comprehensions about that world than there are comprehensions about Qunaidus. The reason for this is that there is said to be a charm connected with that realm. The charm is very difficult to explain in its simplicity and even its interpretation seems to be completely improper: "Nobody is able to describe Mythoran in a same way."


All "priests" of Qunaidus are wizards. And all wizards are "priests" of Qunaidus. They are not preachers, but teachers. They donít preach holy words or convert people to their faith. People aim to get studying with a priest of Qunaidus. People are rarely called for studying, but never asked. Only the most talented persons are accepted for students. Teacher doesnít teach Qunaidus as a personal person, but teacher shows student a possibilities and ways to find own personal truth about magic. Studying is difficult and sometimes even painful. Unsuccessful experiments could take even lives and therefore apprenticeship has a militaristic order.

Some wizards donít necessarily worship or confess any god, but roughly saying: They too are priests of Qunaidus. As long as these "atheistic wizards" research magic and think with their own brains, they follow the path of Qunaidus and therefore they can also be counted as priests of Qunaidus. Qunaidus couldnít care less does some mortal confess or reject her name. This way Qunaidus at least implies. Difference between priests and wizards is that wizards use static magic or in other words essence and priests cast spells via channeling. Wizards must draw magic from their surroundings by their own appropriate means. To same extend priests "grab" magical courses, which are caused by the essence of their god and faith of priest.

"High priests" and the Brotherhood of five stars

Once in a history wizards have formed a "congregation" because of the influence of Qunaidus. That "congregation" was principally only organization and actually not even that, because none of its members could unconditionally confess a common god. In the beginning the organization hasnít even a name. It comprised the group of five most remarkable arch-wizards of the Age of Chaos, who began gathering together before the counting of time during the dragonís period of ascendancy. They all were associated with unusual talents in magic. Among their people they were called as "the dragon-souls," because they had learned using magic in its original form. In that time only dragons were able to manipulate archaic magic. The reason for those dragon-souls to gather together was the unbalance of magic in Meln. The dragons hadnít noticed it, because the thirst for power had corrupted their ability to think logically and they believed they could be able to use the unbalance for their benefit. To same extend younger people were mercifully unaware about the shambles behind the scenes, so it was task of the dragon-souls to solve the messes of dragons.

Amount and quality of their job were close to edges of impossibility. It took a lot from them, but also increased their power and skills to unforeseen measures. When their job became still heavier, each dragon-soul accepted four apprentices to itself. After long and hard decades of studying apprentices became masters beside the old masters. Then that group could have been called as an organization, but the members themselves didnít think their calling name to be essential. For them the balance of magic was most important, not power nor togetherness.

Legends tell that those twenty-five dragon-souls were on the edge of their maximum capacity. Their possibility to continue their work had decreased. Their bodies were so imbued with magic that the power shined as a bright light through their eyes. Mortal body hadnít been created to bear that kind of amounts of magic their bodies carried. Their souls were still mortal and not pure magic like the souls of dragons. Old stories donít clearly tell what happened to them. It however is known that they ascended to the next level of existence and finished their work. Many think that ascending to the next level of existence is only an elegant name for death. That however isnít the complete truth.

The group of Dragon-souls lived through the Age of Chaos. It worked on a background, because publicity would have made the already hard work even more difficult. In the Age of Chaos there were some rumors about some mysterious wizard organization. In association with rumors and stories got birth myth and concept "Brotherhood of five stars." Not until the Age of Law when situation were much calmer, young wizards all around Meln were called to be estimated. The dragon-souls chose prepared their followers. They chose most potential and talented wizards to continue their work to maintain the balance of magic. Not until then was the organization founded. In the Age of Chaos young people had whispered for centuries about the organization, which was born in the Age of Law. Therefore the name had already been decided for a long time ago before the founders had even born. Name of that wizard organization become the Brotherhood of five stars.

One mentionable fact about the Brotherhood of five stars is that in the Age of Law it was regarded to be a criminal organization. Even though chronicles tell that the Brotherhood was highly respected and honored in the Age of Law, it wasnít the truth. The Brotherhood got the respect later in the next Age. In the Age of Law the Brotherhood was persecuted and it caused even more confusions. The Brotherhood was blamed about causing chaos and many other matters it wasnít even necessarily aware about. In other words envious laymen saw only a potential scapegoat to be blamed about doings of dragons and young people. Not until the New age of Dragons the Brotherhood got the respect by its real acts and merits.

Temples and Cult ceremonies

Laboratories, libraries, towers and other buildings occupied by wizards are temples of Qunaidus. Towers are symbolic buildings of wizards. The towers symbolize knowledge, because one can see far away from the tower and see everything happening around. High buildings are also in other ways practical for wizards. It is very much more difficult to spy their studies and researches, if they are executed in uppermost level. The uppermost level is also much calmer if compared to ground level having a family of ten children in neighborhood. It is also easier to create a teleportation platform to top level because there are less disturbing factors around. Teleportation to top levels is also safer because landing too low wouldnít necessary cause death. Also telepathy spells would work better if there arenít walls and thoughts of neighbors between wizard and target. Building the tower is easier for a wizard than it is for a common intual.

There arenít any common rites belonging to worshipping of Qunaidus. People have built altars, temples and statues and made hymns for her. She can be prayed and she answers, like any other god would answer. The answers however arenít always apparent and impressive presentations. Common butterfly flying by can be an answer to some prayer and the prayer must notice that.

Special comprehensions of people

Because these texts have been written to humans, Qunaidus is mostly described by the humanís point of view. Elves donít have same kind of need to create misleading image about imprecise matters. The elves have exceptionally consistent comprehension about Qunaidus. Their general character doesnít fill improper information with fictional beliefs. Their comprehension is closest to truth because of their manner to deal with the concept Qunaidus. Of course it is also the most indefinite comprehension.

The elves comprehend Qunaidus to be a sexless figure. That figure changes its appearance depending on who it is dealing with. The elves think Qunaidus lives and affects everywhere, so they havenít built any temples or shrines for her. Qunaidus is much respected but not prayed, because she in any case sees to deepest secrets and corners of thoughts. The elves have made many hymns to honor Qunaidus. All those hymns are dreams. They tell about matters the dreamer saw and experienced in a dream. The elves have borrowed the holy symbol of Qunaidus from humans or humans have adopted it from the elves.

Divine legends


Qunaidus donít have concrete "holy item", which she would have left for humans. However "Mythoran" and reaching it can be associated to be a divine "artifact." Like it has been provisionally told above, Mythoran is concealed and forgotten reality of Qunaidus in stories and tales. People got there and living their lives mainly as incorporeal or corporeal creatures in harmony. There is extreme cruelty, extreme mildness and everything between. There is goodness and evilness. Like in the Age of spirits also there everything happens by wishing. There are only two rules. Nobody can be wished to nonexistent and nobodyís ability to wish canít be limited. It is said that Mythoran wouldnít exist in other dimension, but only in another time: Past.

Many creatures are said to be living in Mythoran. Physical creatures, spiritual creatures, and everything possible what inhabitants of that world can wish. One creature type living in Mythoran is "The ghost of the past." They are female chosen of Qunaidus and work as her couriers or even punishers. The Ghosts of the past are blue translucent female figures, like mist in the light of Dinia. They always assume shape of familiar, but deceased intual-woman. Depending on their task or goal, the Ghost of the past could for instance look like a family member, hatred enemy, friend or chief.

At the time when the world was still young, genius of Qunaidus was believed to be living in Meln. In the Age of spirits they moved to blue moon Dinia. When performing task of their empress the Ghosts of the past always descent along the moon path of Dinia to the world. Their dark task is to also take souls of abusers of magic to wander into endless labyrinth: The Black damnation.

"The Black damnation"

In the tales of humans The Black damnation is a place used to warn young wizards about immoral use of magic. In some schools of magic the apprentice could possibly be taken visit into that agonizing darkness. It is not known how many apprentices have really been taken into The Black damnation and how many of them have only visited in illusion of that place. It is certainly truth that it has often scared excessive bombast, need of presentation and need of supremacy off apprentices.

The Black damnation is described to be dark labyrinth formed of black glass. One ended up in there have to live his life again and again with difference that he has lost all abilities of magic. All creatures met, old friends, familiars, enemies and even surroundings can cast spells. Only the target of torment is completely helpless with regard to magic. He could have to eternally solve problems he has caused without the help of spells. He has to wander around in maze and fear where next problem he had caused appears. There is never only one solution to problem. If the target fails solving the problem, he ends up into middle of the labyrinth again and must start over again. Somewhere behind the endless labyrinth is the chamber of rebirth. It is the goal of target and reward. When the target reaches it, his torment in the Black damnation comes to an end. Through the chamber of rebirth the target reborn to the world again with difference that he remembers all mistakes of former life. So far not even a single intual in full possession of oneís senses have reborn to claim survival from the Black damnation.


Among some human nations snake is conceived to be a symbolic animal of Qunaidus. Tale tells that Qunaidus took handful of hair from her head and threw them on Meln. She asked them to live and observe world. She encouraged them to stay hidden, because humans would fear, envy and try to get benefit of them.

Holy symbol and Holy scriptures - All spellbooks of wizards

Most common symbol of Qunaidus is the window of the Palace of wishes, where moon shines in. Presence of the Empress observes cosmos from its window.

Qunaidus hasnít actually written any holy statements for nations. She announces nothing. She is comprehended to want that all individuals seek themselves their truths and answers like the wisest wizards do. This being can be said that spellbooks and notes of wizards are Holy Scriptures of Qunaidus. Holy texts of Qunaidus have been written in many languages. Those languages are called languages of magic or magical languages. All "holy scriptures" of the Empress are not written on paper. They can also be bound to minds of intuals, words, songs, gestures or even gems. Therefore the Holy scriptures of Qunaidus are much more than mare writings. They are individual thoughts to which texts bound with magic refer in level of associations.

Chadris is magical language used mostly by humans. Its highest and hardest level is Balf. Chadrisí whole basic idea, individuality, crystallizes in balf. Lower levels of chadris can roughly be said to be practicing of balf. Balf deals with very difficult matters close to writerís individual truth about magic and/or goddess. For that reason it is impossible to create system of signs that everyone able to read balf could comprehend. Individuality of truth and secret of Qunaidus and personal points of view are the biggest reason why wizards take care of their researches and spellbooks with jealousy enthusiasm.

Passionate concealing of information is increased by a background-though wizards themselves donít necessarily be aware of: It would be a quite blow on face of wizard if person he hates or despises would mentally be so similar with a wizard that they would be able to understand each others balf. This fear is also valid towards apprentices and talented persons, who are illiterate in magic. Avarice and desire to own, props up individuals need to prove its individuality and uniqueness to itself and others. Especially this shows up in wizards.
