Em-warriors
Dominant parts of mind: Intuition and emotions
In the Ancient Islands in the darkness of Moonless Mountain lives a tribe belonging to Jonai: the Tumakas. During centuries they have got used for living in darkness. In the depths of the Moonless Mountain they live only by their hearing, smell and feeling senses. Even though their sight is rather good it doesn’t help much. Instead of that their intuition has developed compensating the lacking light. In the depths of the Moonless Mountain, where dangerous kuhakai-giants for example live, combat skills are prerequisite for surviving. Respected order of warriors using their intuition and emotions lives among this Jonai-tribe. They are called as em-warriors. They are able to release choked feelings as element discharges upon their enemies. The em-warriors have learned to fight in darkness and therefore they have practiced their intuition to top levels. Extremely accurate intuition and strong emotions bound to some element of nature form a psychic power. Name of that power is “em”. The em-warriors have learned to combine these powers to their fighting skills.
Every em-warrior has one element where he has bound his own psyche. From that element he gains either physical or spiritual power to get through even impossible challenges. With their elements the em-warriors can cause element damage in addition to a weapon’s normal damage. The em warriors can for example use em-fire to momentarily heat up blade of their katana to a red-hot. Young em-warriors are not necessarily able to fully control their powers, so they might use up all their energy continuously heating up the blade of their weapon. More experienced warriors strive to discharge the em-fire simultaneously with the strike. This way their spiritual resources last for entire battle. If the em-warrior experiences strong emotions towards his enemy, his weapon could even burst into flames. Because the em-elements are not completely pure natural phenomena, their effect disappears quickly from the weapon. The em-fire for example heats up the blade in a moment. The heat caused by the em-fire disappears very quickly. Em-element powers are much more impulsive than pure powers of nature. With a normal fire one must heat up weapon for a long time before its blade is red hot. To same extend natural heat in the weapon lasts for a considerably longer time than the heat of em-fire.
Em-warrior’s bond between mind and body is essential. They can use their em-power only in close combat. In addition to em-charge these powers include other physical abilities also. They for example are able to have protection against their own element and rumors tell that em-masters could even transform their body to their own element. The em-warriors can heal their wounds and bruises with their own element or ask help from the element spirits. The Jonai classify existence to be formed of numerous elements. There are ten most remarkable elements. Basic elements are fire, earth, water, air and soul. Between those are bordering elements light, heat, darkness, coldness and body. Basic and border elements also have lesser elements between them and those are sun, lava, flesh, blood and so forth. Normally the em-warrior has concentrated only to one element in addition to mind and body. Old tales however tell about the “Masters of Ten Elements.”
