Mind and psychists
Imagination forms the borders of thoughts. Where is a thought, there is also psi. Psi forms a network between thinkers. Basic unit of the psi network is a persona. Mind, way of thinking, experience of life and faith together form a persona. Persona could possible consist of other factors too, but we are now concentrating on the most important attribute by the perspective of psi, the mind. The mind is an individual’s link to entirety, the psi network. Psi network is exclusively formed of numerous minds and thought bonds connecting them. Mind is a tool, but it is also “apartment of persona.”
Through the ages there have been those intuals who have seen the world little differently. In addition to concrete world they have seen also the spiritual world. The spiritual world means the psi network even though everyone wouldn’t understand that when seeing it. These kinds of intuals are called psychists, mentalists or psionics. Even though they haven’t seen the psi network in its totality, they have sensed the thought bonds connecting intuals. These humans have always been feared and people are still afraid of them. Why they are feared? Unknown is always fearsome thing. The psychists have always been able to do things they can’t explain to others. Inborn psychists have always been strong in emotional thinking. To same extend their analytic side has “suffered lack of using.” That’s why psi hasn’t never been clearly explained or analyzed. Mind has always been so abstract and indefinite concept that it hasn’t even thought to be clearly explained. Not until in the New age of dragons born a man, who knowingly specified the human mind. Kar’Aster was a human so he specified only the way of thinking of humans. This specification however works with other intuals too.
Story of Kar’Aster
Kar’Aster was the first mystic. Because of some affairs he got isolated into the “borders of the world.” He was thrown with a ruby he had stolen into “protoplasm,” to the edges of all concrete worlds. Due to caprice of coincidence the ruby reacted with the protoplasm so that it grew to ruby caves bigger than enormous. The ruby caves protected Kar’Aster from the all unknown dangers the protoplasm created when defending itself.
Originally Kar’Aster was a thief and wizard and a poor one. In isolation Kar’Aster was wandering around in enormous halls of his ruby prison. It was his world. After times he had examined it so carefully that from the hue of the ruby wall he knew his location. Getting engrossed in his thoughts was a way of escape from the uninspiring ruby world. Later it became his obsession. The obsession drove him deeper and deeper into his thoughts and he found plenty of new and different thoughts inside. He found comfortable, melancholy, scary and questionable matter from himself. Sometimes he escaped those things and locked himself into dead end of his own mind. After lying there long enough he couldn’t do anything else but clarify those things to himself. Those unsolved and long disturbed matters opened him new doors to a new thoughts.
“What is real freedom? Infinite amount of space to travel?
Total permission to do whatever wanting to?
Total permission to opinions in own prison?
Or to live by the rules of alike among alike?”
- Kar’Aster and loneliness –
That way Kar’Aster found other side of himself: A different thinker. That was the beginning when later psi and wizard magic combined in him; analytic wizard and a serious psychist. For a several times he wandered along the labyrinth of his mind. He encountered many kind of thoughts. Nice thoughts encouraged him to continue and winning the difficult matters strengthened him. In loneliness giving up wasn’t an option. A thinker in him found many new matters and the wizard side wrote those up. In the isolation as a first known human Kar’Aster classified the parts of human mind. Later he accidentally succeeded in escaping via the dream world back to his own reality, Meln. He founded a school examining and researching mystic and difficultly determined matters. People began calling him and his students as mystics. Nowadays mystics as well as seers study in legendary “Great library”, which is said to be located in the edge of the all worlds. (We can presume here that the library is built into Kar’Aster’s former ruby prison.) Only mystics and seers know the way into the Great library.
At first researches and theories of Kar’Aster brought a lot of grudge among old psychists. Only after several decades when Kar’Aster had disappeared again and for good, his studies and knowledge got a common acceptance. The most known of Kar’Aster’s theories and studies is the theory of the labyrinth of thoughts.
The labyrinth of thoughts
Human has always rather searched answers from outside than inside itself. Blaming or searching a source of fault is a concrete example of this. Human has walked long ways to find an answer even if the truth would have been behind admitting own mistake. The saying below causes heated conversations among psychists. Lie is often coordinated to psychic powers, because use of psychic powers requires a strong will, manipulation of minds and extremely persuasive suggestion. Parts of the psychist think that the best liar is the one who perfectly believes own lies. Another part thinks that best liar is the one who is able to perfectly assure others without believing their own lies themselves. Kar’Aster however believed to absolute honesty to oneself:
“Lie to others as much as you wish,
but you should be honest at least to yourself.”
And
“Remember your own lies,
for sometimes in darkness you’ll face them.”
-Kar’Aster, old thief-
The labyrinth of thoughts searches answers from inside. There the path leading inwards changes narrower and smaller the deeper it is traveled to. There bases the comprehension that the entirety is controlled by details and the majority is achieved via minority. Goal in the labyrinth of thoughts is to get as deep as possible. Nowadays it is also argued what lies in the middle of the labyrinth. Some claim it to be endless labyrinth becoming extremely small. By this point of view the real goal is the pursuit itself and not achieving it. Other schools teach that final fulfillment of life could be found from the middle of the labyrinth. Some psychists, like the Independent mentalists, believe that a golden gate leading to planes of gods could be found from the labyrinth. Small part of the psychists believes that a place called as “The Island of secrets” could be found from the center of the labyrinth. They believe that there are answers to all secrets of the world.
Infinite smallness
All theories agree that distance to the center of thoughts is endless or at least extremely long and difficult. The longer the way is traveled the harder the traveling is. According to the theory of the labyrinth of thoughts the knowledge doesn’t depend on size, so it can be however deep in the labyrinth without being meaningless. Actually the case is just opposite. The rarer the information is the more important it is. The information located deep in the labyrinth is hard to reach. Therefore answers to bigger secrets are located deepest in the labyrinth. Every moment traveled in the labyrinth gives a pinch of new information.
Information that can be found from the labyrinth is either personal or universal. It is relative is the information true or delusion, because the truth is relative matter. If one intual knows the truth and other believe to lie, the lie becomes real unless otherwise attested. Therefore all information is personal truths, not universal.
Personal information reveals personal truths about own identity, own weaknesses and strengths, own position in society, influences of other people to own identity and a lot of more. Personal information is indicative and only via them, by accepting them, one can accept universal information and commonly accepted truths. Commonly accepted truths are the key to communication with others and via that reaching of new information.
“Comprehend your kind to comprehend yourself.
And to comprehend your kind, you must accept yourself.”
- Kar’Aster, the thinker -
Universal information is that comes via senses to the labyrinth of thoughts. Human always senses. He can’t decide to not sense, but he can decide to not to care about experiences of his thoughts. This is the fundamental idea of concentrating itself. The opposite of concentrating itself is obvious concentration, where one strives to concentrate to all senses and become perfectly aware of its surroundings. Because the senses perceive new things about the surrounding world all the time, most of this information passes the consciousness of the individual. This passing universal information fells off everywhere into the labyrinth and by searching them, personal truths about the surrounding world can be found. The universal informations are critical pieces to affect the surrounding world. These also often open access to a deeper level of self in the labyrinth of thoughts.
Theoretical classification
Kar’Aster classified human mind roughly into two parts: intelligence and emotional intelligence. Intelligence represents superficial, logical and theoretical matters. These matters can be practiced and studied academically. He classified intelligence part into a three smaller parts: Communication, logic and memory. Yellow color of communication reflects clarity and brightness of the area compared to other areas of mind. Green color of the logic reflects verdancy and calmness of mind. Blue color of memory reflects purity and order.
The emotional intelligence is the other part of mind. It is much more chaotic and changing than the intelligence part. At the same time it is also the more creative and dominant part. It may be said that human is a slave of its emotions. This refers to basic instincts, from some the most important is the “power” controlling social behavior: The need to propagation. Kar’Aster classified the emotional intelligence into a three parts: Intuition, emotions and creativity. The orange color of intuition reflects transitional stage of this part between two strong parts of mind: Communication and emotions. In evolution of mankind intuition can be classified to be disappearing part of mind. The red color reflects the intensity of emotions in its full strength. The violet color of creativity reflects inestimably and mystery of this part of mind.
Intuition is the first used part of human mind. It tells to a new-born what he should do and when. The intuition tells to a young man what he should do with his woman. Intuition comprises basic instincts of human. The intuition makes human crying for pain even if he knows to be alone and nobody needs to be warned. Basic instincts commands man to retrieve his self-esteem back with a violence of another man has touched his woman. The basic instincts live toughly in humans and on background of everyday life. The basic instincts are often obstacles before the mental development. To develop as a thinker, human must learn to control his basic instincts, but he can’t deny them.
The communication is often difficult to conceive to be a part of mind, but it is. It is as important part of mind as all the others. The communication comprises sociality and self-expression by words, gestures, acts, thoughts, images, music and other equivalent ways. The creativity determines what ways and how those ways should be used. This being five senses of humans belongs to communication part of mind. This part of mind also comprises conversation with others and self. If a human would bar all paths to its communication area, he would remain inhibited to self repeating same patterns and wandering at the borders of its possibilities.
The emotions are what the name tells. Like in case of other parts of mind also border of emotions and intuition is very indefinite. These two parts of mind are more than usual confused to each other. Love belongs to emotion, but passion is very intuitive basic instinct or in case of men sometimes even physical need. On the other hand there is many kind of love: Devoted love on its extreme is addiction, which in its part belongs to social needs, or in other words into a communication part of mind. Also the passion mentioned above can be thought to belong to love. The love is a good example of that even the mind has been classified, the borders are only concepts created by Kar’Aster and made to clarify things.
The memory is the part of mind where all matters processed by consciousness are arranged for later use. The memory like all other parts of mind doesn’t actually exist as a blocks like the image indicates. Memory is formed of the part of mind that consciousness has already examined. Even though “carriers” constantly transport and move information in that part of mind too. Because of the “carriers” less used and less important information disappear from the memory. It however is possible to find those matters later from notes for example.
The logic is the “partner” of the memory. The logic needs memory in order to work. This part of mind forms formulas and ways of thinking, which are stored into memory. The logic is the part of mind that combines already existing pieces of information to a new informations and concepts. The logic is the best part of mind to understand and process abstract matters.
The creativity is the vaguest part of mind. Like the logic, the creativity also combines existing matters to new ones. Unlike the logic, the creativity always seeks new points of view. Sometimes the creativity could create a wholly new and unforeseen concept from nothing. That is where it has got its name.
Figures of mind
Once during his studies Kar’Aster found the figures of mind. He wasn’t able to concentrate on his analytic researches, so he gave himself a permission to think everything coming into mind. Objectively Kar’Aster followed his own thoughts, which came and went. There were a lot of them. They followed each other and didn’t necessarily have any association to each other. When he had seen one thought he without thinking it more moved it away and received the next one. The thoughts were memories from the past, perceptions from the present and fears from the future. Among the thoughts were emotions, conclusions and guesses. They were small, big, meaningless, meaningful and strange. From among the thoughts Kar’Aster recognized jokes he hadn’t been able to told anybody. He felt emotions, which he had concealed as useless ones from his consciousness. He found conclusions, which he would have wanted to share with others. He saw beauty, which he also would have wanted to show to others. Kar’Aster also tried to receive all possible coming thoughts simultaneously, but then he found the heart of chaos and became distressed. Not until then he realized those enormous resources he had always had, but he hadn’t realized to even seek them.
Interested in of those experiences Kar’Aster began pondering where all that originated from. He arranged his thoughts and drew symbols of abstract matters to be able to arrange them too. Finally he drew an image of brains. Then he realized that mind was a labyrinth. In that labyrinth lied all information: Information he already knew and the unknown information. The oldest pieces of information had run into deepest parts of the labyrinth. The most frightening and most personal matters had been concealed behind doors. That awakened a question who or what transports those informations. What closes frightening matters behind doors? What brings him thoughts and solutions while he is sleeping? What causes his thoughts to wander around? What creates those wandering thoughts? As an answer Kar’Aster found figures of his mind: Consciousness and the carriers.
Consciousness and the carriers
Form, color and appearance of these figures can be anything. It doesn’t matter. The matter is how the figures work. Kar’Aster classified a golden ball to be a symbol of “consciousness” and a silver ball to be a symbol of “the carrier.” The consciousness is slow and purposeful figure. Usually there is only one consciousness figure in one persona. The carrier is naïve, fast and tireless figure. One persona has several carriers.
The consciousness slowly travels in the labyrinth of thoughts observing and classifying information found from the labyrinth. All senses of human pick up information from their surroundings all the time and sprinkle it into the Labyrinth of thoughts. Task of the consciousness is to find essential information from among the needless information. After that the consciousness must form entities of the pieces of essential information. Information entities are keys for consciousness to get into deeper level in the Labyrinth of thoughts. The consciousness can tell to the carriers what kind of information entity they are working with at the moment. This way the carriers begin giving a certain kind of pieces of information to consciousness. This isn’t always beneficial, because the carriers constantly disturb the working of the consciousness. Untiringly they gather different pieces of information for consciousness to be determined. The carriers themselves are poor to determine essential pieces of information, so they bring a lot of needles information for the consciousness. Concentration of mind bases on that how well the consciousness can be to not to pay attention to the carriers with needles information.
In a way over-active humans are too interested in everything. Their consciousness begins examining every piece of information the carriers bring to it. Kar’Aster brought to a head that over-active people lack the figure of consciousness, because it has identified to a carrier. To the same extend too profound people can’t get anything complete, because their consciousness processes too long for a single piece of information.
If same human has two consciousnesses, it is called as schizophrenia. Because the Labyrinth of thoughts is enormous, it is probable that these two consciousnesses never encounter. Should the two consciousnesses of schizophrenic encounter, they could work very effectively together. This however is extremely rare. The history remembers these cases as geniuses or archaists.
The carriers are quick and naïve and therefore they are difficult to control. Kar’Aster compared the carriers to children. When children are given some task, they eagerly do it without comprehending the entirety or result. The doing is more important for children than achieving the goal. The carriers work in a same way. Their task is to seek pieces of information from all around the mind and bring them to consciousness to be examined. There are numerous amounts of the carriers and they wander in all levels of mind. The carriers can often found a path to deeper levels of mind, but usually they get lost in there and found the consciousness much later. Kar’Aster thought that to be the reason why solution to a problem could be found much later or after a well slept night. The carriers travel a lot and by their point of view all corridors of the labyrinth look same. Therefore they can’t remember their routes. That’s why they can’t guide the consciousness, which always aims to deepest levels of mind. The carriers can only approximately tell the location of information and by those instructions the consciousness searches that route in the Labyrinth of thoughts.
The carriers are able to carry only one piece of information at time. Therefore they can’t see or form entities. The carriers always have one piece of information with them. When they believe to found something that would interest the consciousness, they drop the information they had been carrying and pick up the new one. The new one is then carried to consciousness to be estimated. That way the pieces of information get into different places and levels in different parts of mind.
The carriers are those who by the command of consciousness block certain matters behind doors in the Labyrinth of thoughts. Those matters can be fears, personal secrets or unpleasant truths. Sometimes the carriers themselves recognize this kind of matters and conceal them for the consciousness. That way they strive to protect the consciousness of too big shocks or depression.
The labyrinth metaphor
Kar’Aster’s “Labyrinth of thoughts” metaphor teaches psychists to develop their skills and accept everything in itself. Own thoughts could have many matters that have been denied from itself or for some reason haven’t wanted to be considered. The outermost level consists of the simplest matters of life that are examined even by infants. This kind of matters are crying and eating for example: Bad condition leads to crying and crying lead noticing. The noticing leads to eating and eating leads to good condition. This example belongs to the earliest part of human mind: intuition or in other words instincts. The more human examines self and surroundings the more difficult matters change. The more other parts of mind develop, the less the earliest part of mind is used. Adults don’t cry much, but they shouldn’t deny it themselves either. Path into the depths of the Labyrinth of thoughts passes via different parts of mind. If the consciousness of human has decided to avoid some part of mind it is sooner or later stuck on with its thoughts.
“All thoughts do not have to be liked,
but all are worth of accepting.”
- Kar’Aster, common human -
Meditation – deeper into self
Meditation is a psychists’ way to develop in psychic powers. By outsider’s view the meditation may seem to be dawdling, indistinct jolting, uttering of weird sounds, dancing or sleeping, but it is also a much more. Meditation is contemplation. There are hundreds of ways to meditate. They can base in silence, sound, motion or breathing. Depending on the situation and aims, meditation can be practiced in group or alone. Essential in all methods and styles is the examination, concentration and purification.
In examining meditation own resources are developed. In these meditations secrets of own mind and finding of right path into the Labyrinth of thoughts is concentrated. In examining meditation the psychist goes through everything he has seen and experienced. He ponders reasons for his own behavior as well as behavior of other intuals. While examining he arranges inner questions and answers of his mind so that those matters fit to everything he has seen and experienced. Examining thinker has to go through his life several times. Every time that going through own life takes consciousness forward. It opens new possibilities, but due to restrictions of mortals it also closes some sources of thoughts.
The examining meditation is not as harmless as an outsider would think. The labyrinths of mind are full of doors of mind. Some of them are open and some closed. If the meditating doesn’t know self well enough, he could find some uncomfortable secrets from his past. The thinker should always think twice before opening any locked doors. The locked doors could lead either to essential answers or difficult matters. The psychists call these difficult matters as “monsters of mind.” Those are born every time when the carriers had concealed difficult matters behind locked doors to protect the consciousness. In the corners of mind, deep in the labyrinth of thoughts the difficult matters have incubated and they have swelled to nightmarish monsters of mind. The monsters of mind are powerful and are possible to leash them to resources of psychist. This kind of encounter of consciousness and monster of mind is a certain kind of battle, but this battle has only one person interested and that is the psychist itself. Every battle changes the psychist’s persona somehow. Either his identity and mind gets stronger or his powers and self-esteem get weaker. When winning, the psychist could possibly achieve more inner mana or new kind of psychic powers. When losing, the psychist would lose self-esteem and trust for own talents. In addition to that the monster of mind is released. When the psychist next time battles against that same monster it would be far more difficult challenge. When the battle becomes desperate the consciousness could try to bolt the monster behind locks again. Then the monster remains incubating and growing and should be defeated as soon as possible. In that kind of situations the monster is much more harder challenge when it is encountered again. It is not impossible that the consciousness loses control of the situation locks itself up into dead end. In that case the psychist remains in meditation trance until he psychically perishes or gets telepathic help from some other psychist. Losing against monster of mind could cause some traumas or mental diseases. Behavior of the psychist could change and he begins losing his identity.
One safety mean to win the monster of mind is external help. The matter that has become to a monster of mind can be tried to get on surface and discuss about it with some honest person. Sharing the secret divides up the monster and adapts it to psychist’s personality. The drawback in this method is exposure to a social abuse. Divided secret is always a risk to get in domination of outsider in social world.
Becoming a hermit is one rather safety but time consuming way to win monsters of mind that have incubated long time. In loneliness the psychist can by easy stages get ready to adapt the monster back to harmless though annoying matter into his Labyrinth of thoughts. This means that the matter in question should not be liked, but it must be accepted. The psychist must by easy stages get familiar with the monster of soul and talk with it. At first the monster can’t even talk, during time both participants learn to understand and accept each other. Both of them after all are one and the same persona. This kind of process could take years. The younger the psychist is when he learns meditating and struggling with difficult matters the more unlikely it is to find large and unpleasant secrets from the corners of one’s mind.
Concentrating meditation practices the consciousness and carriers of the thinker. The consciousness is possibly practiced to ignore the carriers. This is an excellent method of meditation, if the meditating one must concentrate completely on one certain matter. It is also possible to practice the carriers with this method of meditation. It is slow and difficult but not impossible. Trained carriers learn to bring more essential information for the consciousness. This kind of training of the carriers makes the learning process faster. With this method of meditation the psychist can learn to not to feel pain for example. The pain after all is wild carriers which are bringing the information about pain for consciousness.
The concentrating meditation can be used for developing the creativity. When concentrating to creativity the consciousness doesn’t search or examine any certain matter. It has concentrated on examining the work of the carriers and receiving only beautiful matters the carriers bring to it. Only afterwards when the consciousness has enough material for creation it begins arranging entities from those matters. The meditation concentrating on creativity can also be very refreshing experience.
The purifying meditation consists of the freshening up the mind and body. Sleeping is the most typical way of purifying meditation. If one can also concentrate on purifying meditation, it will be a lot more refreshing than normal sleep. In normal sleep the deepest phase is reached not until after few hours after falling asleep. When succeeding, experienced thinker can fall into the most refreshing sleep in a moment. That way only few hours of sleep is enough to make him refreshed.
Purifying meditation is sometimes used also for the revival of physical body. This meditation can considerably accelerate healing of wounds of muscles, bones and skin. Experienced psychist is able to heal even a severe wound in one night. It is possible to acquire spiritual energy or physical power from surroundings and surrounding physical elements. From fire a warmness and physical strength can be baled out. Air gives fastness and earth gives endurance. Water can give spiritual coping and flexibility.
Psychists
One can’t usually study to become a psychist, but he must birth to be one. The psychists are humans having an exceptional mind. By different coincidences their way of thinking has loosen from the conventional ways of thinking of common people. These coincidences can be abnormal development of embryo, physical “blows” on a head and strong emotional experiences of the past. By these coincidences the psychically talented intuals have learned to use far larger capacity of mind than common intuals. With a mere thought they are able to manipulate the thought network or psi and perform actions incomprehensible by a common people.
Are the psychists small gods? In a way yes, because the psi-powers come from inside of the psychists. By the theory of independent mentalists only mortals have the mana called as “the drink of gods” and the gods are only a big parasites. The psychists have learned to use their mana and that way the independent mentalists justify the psychists to be a small gods.

Short description |
|
|
| Bards |
These psychists deal more or less with crowds of people. The bards can be entertainers, storytellers and seers. They have specialized to charms, entertaining and gathering knowledge.
|
| Em-warriors |
In the Ancient Islands deep in the Moonless Mountain the em-warriors have got used to live in complete darkness. The em-warriors have learned to fight in darkness and that’s why they have practiced their intuition to a top ranking. They have learned to combine their mind, body and one element to an effective em-power.
|
| Kineticists |
The kineticists are known of their telekinetic skills and portals. Affecting material bases on manipulation of non-living materials. “Faith moves mountains” is said. If many kinetics enough would believe a mountain to move, it could move. The kineticists are even able to crumble targets to a dust only with a thought.
|
| Collectivists |
The collectivists are never alone. They are one. They are idealists, who believe to a perfect society. They have perfectly distributed their thoughts, opinions and emotions. The collectivists are able to manipulate crowds with accuracy and affectivity of telepath. The collectivist society supports its members, but also expects and assumes sacrifices. The strength of the society of collectivists’ bases on that when needed one character has entire small society crystallized to it.
|
| Metabolists |
The metabolists are transformers and healers using psi. They have best control over their own body. Often skills of warrior and psychist combine in metabolist. They are exceptional teachers of psi, mental healers, solvers of traumas and curse removers.
|
| Telepaths |
The telepaths have all proper fears and assumptions of intuals upon them, because in addition to their own thoughts the telepaths can also control thoughts of others. As diplomats and scouts the telepaths are unequalled. Experienced telepaths are even able to make a temporal psi-dead-zone. In that kind of area all psychic powers are ineffective.
|
| Dreamers |
The dreamers are psychists who have experienced controlling and forming their subconscious mind. By dreams the dreamers can make intuals to change their opinions or even persona. The master-dreamers are even able to make the dream to reality or move via dreams to the sleeper. It is also possible to gather information from the future or past via dreams.
