Ice elves

Appearance

Ice elves are the most "cold" of all elves and not only by name. They are the smallest of all elves. Ice elven man is about 140cm - 155cm height and weights about 35 - 50 kilos. Women are about 135cm - 150cm height, weighting about 30 - 45 kilos. The color of the ice elven skin varies from light blue to almost white. Their hair is always white and their features are slender. Ice elves have pointed ears and almond shaped eyes, which are black on color. Their gaze is extremely sharp and cruel. Ice elves have accustomed to live in extremely coldness, so they endure cold very well and can survive even in the hard frost without frost injuries. Their frost resistance arises from their very fast circulation and metabolism. This the main reason why ice elves live only 300 - 400 years.

Society

Ice elves live in glaciers and arctic areas in the northern Meln. They live in small villages, which are mostly build from ice and snow. Their village are incredible beautiful and charming icy works of art, like perfect opposites of their character. Villages are very old and normally ice elf spends his / her whole lifetime in the same region. Although they wander a lot, especially at winter, when there is much colder in south, they always return to their dwelling places.

The ice elves have very severe laws and they always punish quickly and cruelly from crimes. If the crime is even little serious, punishment is quite surely death.

Enemies and relations to other races

Ice elves are the most cruel and practical of all elves. They live only to benefit themselves and their own race, all other races are enemies. Ice elf's personality is very cruel and he/she uses any means to achieve his/her goals. They don't even hesitate to kill their own people if it benefits them somehow. Many lesser races avoid the ice elves just because of their cruelty. Ice elves are skillful and effective warriors and their skills to combine magic to the armed combat makes them very frightening enemies. At winter ice elves make their campaigns to south to destroy and rob tribes of other races, that have settled too near the ice elven village. Ice elves don't accept anyone near their villages.

All other elves consider ice elves as renegades of the elven race, and don't want to be in any contact with them. They are considered to be even lower than half-elves. Ice elves and other elves meet only in rare occasions, because ice elves live so far away in north. All encounters happen mostly at winter.

Weapons and battle tactics

Ice elves prefer light crossbows or short bows and long swords and daggers. Their most common armor is chainmail, which are very fine work and light. Other weapons and armors are also used, but those are not as common. All weapons are forged from ice-steel or the metal is robbed from barbarians living in northern regions. Stolen steel is not as hard as the ice-steel, so it must be "cold hardened". The most preferred fighting style of the ice elven warrior is to fight with long sword in another hand and dagger in the other. Most of their armors and weapons are magical.

Ice elves attack usually with a many small groups from many directions with help of their archers, who aid the attack with their accurate deadly shower of arrows and bolts.

Secret of surviving

The fast metabolism of the ice elves is essential to their survival. Their fast metabolism arises from the fact, they eat a lot. They eat both all living and eatable nourishment and "coldgrain". The coldgrain grows on the slopes of the northern volcanoes in border of ice and fire. The coldgrain is very energetic food, which accelerates the metabolism of the eater. Cold elves make also very strong alcohol, which they always carry small amounts with them as a warmer.

Fast metabolism also gives to ice elf a very fast reflexes, flexible dexterity and is the main reason for their constant aggression.

Religion

Ice elves are not very religious. In principle they believe only for what they see and from what they could benefit. Real priests are very rare among them. The only god who the ice elf might believe is Volaris - the sword of destiny. Mainly they believe only to themselves and in literally: to the cold steel.

Magic

Ice elves are very skilled magic users. Almost every ice elf is uses magic at least a little. The ice elven community has many high level wizards and several low leveled.
