Short overview
Lienal is small seaside village of little over 600 residents. It is located in south-Alcandia on the shore of Ring-Sea. This rather tightly built village is protected by a palisade and is surrounded by fertile grounds. Most buildings are built of logs on stone foundation. At west from the Dancing Chicken inn is located small marketplace where residents sell fresh vegetables, hides, metal articles and anything else necessary. Shore has about ten meters high tower which works as lighthouse and lookout tower.
History
Lienal is old village and the area has had colonization for centuries. Through times the village has remained rather small due to tight and in a particular way introvert community. Same families have lived in the area for generations and new residents are taken as outsiders and it may take several years until they are accepted to be part of the community of the village. In time the place was favored by smugglers because of its good location. From this very quiet harbor they had short distance to Crovik and Trenesa, where risk of being caught was much larger. There are rumors that smuggling still flourishes. Lienal got through the War of the Black Sun with minor damages as the attention was mostly focused to large towns Trenesa, Crovik and Dolcea.
Town management
Lienal is ruled by Peliodes Maelin, whose farmhouse is located inside the palisade. He makes all decision alone and dogmatically. When he was younger, he was liked, because he did everything for the village. At older age he has turned to be more selfish and sullen. Rumors tell that the villager have tried to murder him at least three times.
Maintenance of the law
Lienal’s own guard takes care of the safety. The guard consists of only about 20 well trained and equipped men. Surrounding areas are peaceful and safe and the guards are mainly needed to take care of the village’s inner maintenance of order. The palisade is maintained together by villagers.
Livelihood
Main livelihood is gained by fishing and farming. Fertile grounds and fishy waters around the village produce harvest and fish fairly more than the villagers need.
Demographics
All villagers are alcanians. Only merchants and innkeeper can speak some words of saage, but other people speak only alcean. Visitors are often only by-passers on their journey between Trenesa and Crovik.
