Short overview

Hunare is rather small fishing community of about 260 inhabitants on a shore of large Hure Lake in southern Alcandia. This rather young village is not protected by a wall or palisade. The buildings are mainly built of logs upon a stone foundation. Two storied inns are only exceptions, because their first floor is built of stone and second of wood. All buildings have shingled roofs.

History

The village of Hunare was founded after the war of the Black sun. The village has born to a place where group of Alcanians were hiding the Gxotar’s armies in the war of the Black sun. The entire area has been very thick forest, so it has given excellent cover from giants and other creatures fought at Gxotar’s side. At first the place had temporary lightly constructed dwellings giving shelter. After the war many people decided to stay living in that place. The village of Hunare has always been very tight and introverted community, where it is difficult for an outsider to get in. Mainly for that reason the village has remained rather small and hasn’t grown by the immigrants.

Town management

Matters of the village are decided by a village council, which comprises of five most influential villagers and one person chosen by the villagers. The council decides all matters having to do with the village. Every year the villagers elect the sixth person of the council by voting.

Maintenance of the law

Western side of the village has a moderate sized fort, where unit of about 150 Alcandian soldiers and their leader war-wizard Noeracis lives. Noeracis lives in the tower built inside the fort. The soldiers take care of that the Alcandian laws are obeyed and also patrol in the vicinity of the village in case of some dangerous creatures. The soldiers don’t stick to village management or matters and the villagers don’t stick to matters of the soldiers. Task of the soldiers is only to take care of the safety of the area and the villagers take care of the rest.

Livelihood

The villagers got their livelihood mainly by fishing. The Hure Lake besides the village is very fishy and gives abundantly draft all around the year. Extra livelihood is gained by farming and trading. A cattle breeding is also carried on little. Many trading caravans stop in Hunare on their journey from Trenesa to Dolcea and therefore the village has two inns. Idyllic lake scene is also source of inspiration of many traveling bards and therefore the inns often have performances of journeying bards.

Demographics

All inhabitants of Hunare are Alcanians and alcean is main language of the village. Inn-keepers can speak passably saage. Casual visitors are wood elves, town elves, half-elves, hill dwarves and could even some paladri stop by refreshing sometimes.
